My Story

Richard Teng is a Christian author and Bible study leader who has served in cell-group ministry for more than ten years. He writes to point readers to Jesus Christ and help them discover the life God gives in him. His desire is that readers will grow in their understanding of Scripture and learn to follow Christ by grace through faith in everyday life.

On 15 January 2007, while listening to a Chinese worship CD in Bintulu, Sarawak, Richard reached a turning point in his walk with Christ. His prayer was simple: “I want Jesus.” He shares this testimony with gratitude for God's grace and a desire to direct attention to Christ.

The early seeds of his writing took shape in 2019 and developed through Bible study and sharing in church. His writing grew into the Christ-Centred Trilogy: Christ Our Life, Christ Our Lord and Christ Our Way, each with a companion study guide. Together, these resources explore life in Christ, faithfulness under his lordship, and walking with him through every season of life.

Richard trained as a chemical engineer. He served as chief operating officer of a company listed on Bursa Malaysia from 2015 to 2020, and as an independent director of the same company from 2023 to 2026. He currently serves as general manager of a small chemical manufacturing plant. These experiences inform his reflections on work, leadership and stewardship.

Richard writes as a fellow disciple who is still learning to depend on Christ. His prayer is that readers will know God's love in Christ, grow in faith, and walk with him through every season of life.

Pointing to Christ

“He must become greater;
I must become less.”

John 3:30 (NIVUK)

Richard shares his story with gratitude for God's grace. His desire is that readers will look beyond the author to Jesus Christ, know the life God gives in him, and learn to follow him by grace through faith.

A Personal Reflection

Use Love to Show the World

From my first journal to Christ Our Life

On 15 January 2007, in Bintulu, I cried out, “I want Jesus, I want Jesus.” In my journal that day, I asked for forgiveness, expressed gratitude, and thanked my mother and my boss for their prayers. Near the end, I wrote, “Use Love to show the world.”

Looking back, I understand those words in the light of the gospel. God loved the world and gave his Son so that whoever believes in him may have eternal life (John 3:16–17). The love I long to show begins with the love he has shown to us in Jesus.

My struggles, weaknesses and working life are part of this story. They remind me of my need for grace and of the everyday opportunities to express Christ's love through patience, honesty, forgiveness and care. I am still learning to live this way, depending on the Holy Spirit.

“Use Love to show the world.”

This is the connection with Christ Our Life: the Son of God loved us and gave himself for us; through faith in him, we receive new life and learn to walk with him each day (Galatians 2:20). Our life is hidden with Christ in God, and our hope is to share in his glory when he appears (Colossians 3:3–4).

My story is a signpost pointing to Jesus. My prayer is that this book will help others know him, receive life in him by faith, and grow in his love.
